CLOSING WORDS OF THE CONGRESS PRESIDENT |
Dear Colleagues and Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen!
Five fruitful days are behind us! The long period of preparations for many years, full of anxiety, while also with happy
expectations, is coming to its end.
I can only hope that members of the large family of hand surgeons of the world, who graced the 9th IFSSH Congress with
their presence and valuable active participation, have not been disappointed in their expectations, and will treasure
pleasant memories of this festive event. We sincerely hope that during the social program you could get some insight
into the beauties of our capital and country, our history and folklore.
I would like to believe that our younger colleagues, the future generation of universal hand surgery could take
an advantage of the scientific sessions, and the mature discussions proved to be useful also for the more experienced specialists.
On behalf of the local Scientific Committee and of the Organizing Committee let me express our grateful thanks to the IFSSH,
to former and current leading members of the Federation for assigning the right to host the 9th Congress on the Hungarian Society
for Surgery of the Hand..
May I say thanks to A.B. Swanson, Miguel Vargas, Robert McFarlaine, Yasuo Yamauchi, James Urbaniak, and Guy Foucher. They
visited our country several times in the period of preparations, assisted, encouraged, and supported us. Accept please our
sincere thanks. We commemorate with deep emotion on Miguel Vargas Secretary General of the IFSSH, and our very early passed
delegate to the IFSSH dr. Endre Cziffer.
I am very grateful to the International Scientific Committee for their determinant role in designing the scientific program,
and for the voluntary and high level participation in the academic portion of the program as chairmen, panelists, speakers
at the instructional courses. Special thanks are due to the Moderators who coordinated, evaluated, and directed the smooth
arrangement of the sessions with their enormous experience.
I would say thanks to the invited speakers for their excellent presentations, acting like supporting pillars at the discussions
of various topics.
Many thanks to both the younger and more experienced colleagues for their scientific performance, presenting more than
thousand free papers, and for the presentation of approximately 300 valuable posters.
We are especially grateful to the colleagues, actively participating in the instructional courses - among them to speakers
of the FESSH Day - for their impressing performance, increasing with new information the body of knowledge of the large
group of young hand surgeons.
We are very grateful to the Federation of the European Societies for Surgery of the Hand for agreeing with the principal
idea of our organization and with excellent choice of topics and outstanding speakers contributed to the increase of the
knowledge of younger hand surgeons, and extended the state of art knowledge of the more experienced colleagues.
Here I say briefly thanks to the Board of the Hungarian Society for Surgery of the Hand, to the President of our Society,
János Aurél Simonka. To the Local Scientific Committee, to the leaders and members of other organizing committees
for their essential activity through the years of preparations, and especially in the last months. Special thanks to Zsolt
Szabó who have travel instead of me all over the world to different congresses.
Thanks are going to the exhibitory companies, to the organizers of workshops, to artists-exhibitors, to the Hungarian Post
for their extremely valuable presence. I express my thanks to our sponsors for the generous and indispensable support.
Enthusiasm and high standard professional work of the team of the Congress Organizer Asszisztencia Kft. have also been
the pledge of our successful organizational work. Many thanks for it! Special thanks to Krisztina,
Nándor, Kata, Brigitta, and Judy.
I myself say thanks to God for being here at the festive days of universal hand surgery, and being able to greet you,
my dear friends, in Budapest. I express my grateful thanks to my wife Annamaria for encouraging me in the past years,
for believing in the success of the Congress, and many thanks for her tireless help in the organization of the scientific program,
for writing night and day all my e-mails, and for finding solutions in many other problems.
Dear Friends, Ladies and Gentlemen!
Finally I wish success to the organizers of the 10th IFSSH Congress, to the Australian Society for Surgery of the Hand.
And now I declare the 9th IFSSH Congress closed.
See you again in Sydney! |
